Hotel Insight Forum 2011 - 28 September 2011, Grand Connaught Rooms 

On 28th September, BDRC Continental hosted its third Hotel Insight Forum - Hospitality Expectations of the Future, the evolving needs of the consumer. 

This year's forum took place at Principal Hayley's Grand Connaught Rooms, Great Queen Street, London. For the first time this year, BDRC Continental was proud to introduce a suite of workshops after the main event that honed in on some specific areas of interest.

Dr Cris Tarrant, CEO, BDRC Continental

Cris is co-founder of BDRC Continental and has been involved with the hospitality industry since the mid-1980’s, commencing with the Hotel Guest Surveys, at that time available just in Britain, but now a global programme conducted in nearly 40 countries.  The quality of his consultancy work has been recognized in national Market Research Society Awards for projects conducted on behalf of Hilton and Premier Inn.

David Bailey, Deputy MD, TRI Hospitality Consulting 

David is Deputy Managing Director of TRI Hospitality Consulting with over 20 years’ hotel consultancy experience, developing a broad range of skills and expertise and wide project and geographical experience, with particular emphasis on project market, financial and investment appraisal and strategy development.  He assists with hotel projects across all market sectors and levels. In addition to advising owners on the sourcing, selection and subsequent negotiation of hotel management contracts, he acts as an expert witness, with particular experience of planning appeals.

Rob Davidson, Senior Lecturer, University of Greenwich Business School

Rob Davidson is a Senior Lecturer in Events Management at the University of Greenwich in London, where he works in the London Centre for Events Management, within the Business School. His main areas of expertise are conferences and business events, and over the last ten years he has written widely on these themes. His latest book, co-written with Tony Rogers, is Marketing Destinations and Venues for Conferences, Conventions and Business Events. In addition, he regularly writes articles for the professional business tourism press, including Conference News. Rob also runs his own consultancy business, and has carried out research for a number of major conference organisations in the UK and overseas

James Myring, Director Media Research, BDRC Continental

James is Director of Media and Internet Research at BDRC Continental in Holborn, London where he has worked for the last 11 years.  He has particular experience of international broadcast (especially news channels) and online gaming research – where he has worked closely on projects assessing the profile of online gamers, the impact of in-game advertising and the role of brands within social games.

James has presented at the MRS and MRG on topics ranging from In-game advertising, Monetisation of online media content and Piracy and is particularly interested in how technology impacts on both research and society.

Matt Costin, Director Hotels & Hospitality, BDRC Continental

Matt is a director of BDRC Continental and leads a group of 15 professionals with specialist marketing, sales, operational and research consultancy experience – all dedicated to serving hospitality sector clients.  An MBA graduate from Henley Business School, Matt’s research career began in the late 1990s and he joined BDRC Continental in 2002. His main area of expertise is in customer experience management (CEM), having led the development of several of BDRC Continental’s market leading programmes in this sphere. Matt is also a regular commentator and conference speaker on the meetings and conference sector

On the 22nd September, BDRC Continental hosted its second Hotels & Hospitality Insight and Future Planning Forum at the IET London : Savoy Place.

The event was attended by many representatives from across the sector.  Please find below the presentations that were made at the event.  We hope to see you this year.      

 

Dr Crispian Tarrant, CEO, BDRC Continental

Cris is co-founder of BDRC Continental, the UK’s largest independent market research advisory group, with over 100 employees.

Within the company a dedicated Hotels & Hospitality team specialises in research programs for hotel clients.  This
team is famous for its multi-client studies that track the dynamics of the market and the perceptions of hotel brands in over 35 countries globally.

A social science graduate of Durham and Manchester Universities, Cris has been on the conference platform on many occasions to discuss the evolving nature of customer demand in the hotel industry.

Prior to joining TRI in 1988, he worked in hotel management at the Churchill Hotel in London, and in sales and marketing with Sheraton

Mike Ashton, Managing Director, Ashton Brand Consulting Group

Mike Ashton is managing director of Ashton Brand Consulting Group and non-executive chairman of LHM Media.  As a consultant, coach and award winning marketer, Mike specializes in helping companies to drive commercial value from their investment in brands, marketing and customer experience and manage successful organisational change.

Mike’s blend of practical business experience and inspirational style have made him a popular keynote speaker at conferences in the UK, Europe and the USA and he was recently invited to join the faculty of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.  Mike has an MBA and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Jon Reay, Digital Strategy Director, Aqueduct

Jon is an experienced digital thought leader, strategist and solution architect, currently heading up Aqueduct’s Strategy department. He has led digital strategies for Aqueduct’s key clients over the last two years, including Lloyd’s of London, British Red Cross, Manchester City FC and ICAP plc.

Amy Lewis, Digital Stategist, Aqueduct

Amy is a digital strategist specialising in user experience and communication planning.  She develops digital and social media strategies, experience architecture, and digital communications plans for clients including the FA, Lloyd’s of London and The Royal Parks.
